Physical Profile

Features

The Municipality of Milaor is only three (3) kilometers south of Naga City. It is bounded on the south by the Municipality of Minalabac, on the southwest by the Municipality of San Fernando on the west side by the Municipality of Pamplona and on the north western side by the Municipality of Gainza.

The whole area of the Municipality covers a span of about 6,500 hectares of which in the eastern portion is located the 7 barangays endowed with favorable elevations, safe from flooding hazard and are also considered as the main producers of rice and agricultural products in the Municipality. In the western portion is located the thirteen (13) remaining barangays of the area, considered as a fertile area but situated within the flooding zone and is a rich area for fishing activities rather than for the production of agricultural products especially during the wet season.

The Municipality is literally composed of 20 barangays and distributed as:
Poblacion area comprises the following barangays.

The Bicol River upper barangays are:

Climate
Milaor is characteristically a températe municipality. There are only two distinct seasons that prevail throughout the year dry and wet seasons. Dry season covers the months starting in the middle part of January to the later part of May, while the wet season occurs during the months of June to December. Torrential rains occur most frequently in the months starting from August to December.

Rain usually occurs and signals the advent of the wet season during the month of June. Recorded monthly rainfall based from PAG-ASA report stated that a total of 48,600 mm average rainfall incidence exist within the months of January, June, October and December considered as the months with the heavy rainfalls.

The municipality has a moderate temperature. Highest temperature readings are usually experienced in the months of March, April, May, June and up to July with a temperature reading of not less than 27 centigrade.

HYDROLOGY
Milaor bounds with several inland water including the following creeks:
(1) Sacayan creek passing through Balagbag, Borongborongan and Del Rosario.
(2) Cabugao creek (3) Capucnasan creek (4) Sto. Domingo creek (5) Dalipay creek
(6) Napoho creek (7) Lipot creek (8) Flordeliz creek (9) Del Rosario creek

On the other hand, the Bicol River passes by the barangays of San Vicente, Dalipay, Amparado, Sto. Domingo, San Miguel, Alimbuyog, Borongborongan and Cabugao.

USE
A total of 6,500 hectares of vast lands comprises the municipality of Milaor. It is broken down into five (5) major land uses namely: agricultural, residential, commercial or industrial, institutional and recreational parks.
Agricultural land comprises an approximate area of 6,322 hectares or 97.26 percent of the total land area of the municipality. Residential land is 158.5 hectares or only 2.44 percent; Commercial/Industrial 4.0 hectares or 0.061 percent, Institutional with 13.5 hectares or repressing a minimal area of 0.030 percent of the total area of the municipality.
